Begin With the End in Mind
Parenthood is a full-time job and God is my employer and only recently did I realize the weight and gravity of this calling. I came to the stark realization that I only have a few short years with my oldest child and I need to make sure he learns the knowledge and skills he needs to lead a good and fruitful life. As I was thinking about how to approach teaching my kids, I was reminded of 2 things:
-
The quote "Begin with the end in mind" made popular by Steven R. Covey and
-
The scripture in Luke 2:52 . . . "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man."

Beginning with the end in mind will help you to envision the type of person you hope your child will grow to be and identifying specific skills and attributes that fall within the 4 categories of
-
Wisdom, or applied knowledge
-
Stature, or habits that promote physical health and well being
-
In favor with God, or habits that promote a close relationship with God
-
In favor with man, or attributes that help to build positive relationships
may help in your quest to teach them what they need to learn to become who they were mean to become.
